University of Missouri Extension of Stoddard County is hosting an informational course in estate planning on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This course will be held at the Bootheel Regional Planning Commission, located at 105 E. North Main Street in Dexter. The course is free and participants are asked to register in advance by visiting https://extension.missouri.edu/events/estate-planning-whats-the-worst-that-could-happen-stoddard-county or by calling (573) 568-3344.
In this course, participants will see a fictional family who has done no estate planning. As life circumstances occur, participants will see the unintended consequences of having done no estate planning. After we learn what all goes wrong, we’ll examine the tools available in an estate plan, and then apply those tools to our fictional family to see how it might have changed their outcome.
The purpose of the course is to demonstrate the importance of estate planning in general, but also to give participants more knowledge about estate planning tools and how they might apply so that they are better prepared when they meet with their own estate planning attorneys. This course will be taught by a licensed attorney with 20 years of experience in probate and estate planning.
University of Missouri Extension provides equal opportunity to all participants in extension programs and activities, and for all employees and applicants for employment on the basis of their demonstrated ability and competence without discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, genetic information, disability, or protected veteran status.
